About Us

MISSION

“TO HELP OUR CLIENTS ACHIEVE THE MAXIMUM POSSIBLE INDEPENDENCE AND FINANCIAL HEALTH”

Guardian Finance and Advocacy Services (Guardian) is a nonprofit corporation that provides a complete network of public fiduciary services. Working from our offices in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo, our professional and compassionate staff of 30 people work to improve the lives of over 1200 clients in southwest Michigan.

Historically, our core business has been in the court appointed services of guardianship and conservatorship. We also serve as representative payee, by appointment of the Social Security Administration, and legal custodian, by appointment of the Veterans Administration.

We are currently seeking to grow our services for the general public. These include trust management, power of attorney agreements and money management programs. These services are preventive and are able to help people remain independent, avoid financial crisis, and prevent the need for court intervention.

Guardian exists as a “social enterprise.” This means that, while we are driven by our nonprofit mission, we must also be a successful business. All of our services are supported by client fees that are necessary to cover the costs of service. Some programs are available to help with fees, and our fee schedule is adjusted to accommodate the client’s ability to pay.
